Charlton Duo Set To Depart

Charlton duo Lewis Page and Tomer Hemed are set to leave Charlton this summer.

It was confirmed by the South London Press journalist Richard Cawley that Page, 24, will not be offered a new contract, which will see him leave the club upon the expiration of his contract.

The left back joined the Addicks in 2017 but has only managed 27 appearances in three years. His time at the club has been plagued with injuries and has spent lengthy spells on the sidelines.

His last first-team appearance came on 2October 2018 in a 5-3 defeat away from home against Scunthorpe United.

Page did feature in Charlton’s pre-season friendly at Priestfield against Gillingham this year – a 3-1 defeat – but was taken off in the first half due to injury. He did not play a single game in the Championship this season.

He scored one goal for the club in March 2018; a brilliant first-time volley from outside the box against Plymouth Argyle – Lee Bowyer’s first game in charge as caretaker manager – which saw Page win Goal Of The Month for League One.

Meanwhile Hemed, 33, confirmed on social media that his time at the club would be coming to an end.

The Israeli forward signed for Charlton on a one-year deal from Brighton last summer, having made 108 appearances for the Seagulls and scored 33 goals.

The season before, he had enjoyed a loan spell with QPR in the Championship, scoring seven goals in 29 appearances.

Unfortunately, he failed to make his mark in SE7, scoring no goals in 19 appearances for the Addicks.

In an Instagram post, Hemed said: “From the first moment I arrived to this club I realised how special and big it is.

“I want to thank everyone, the people in the club, my teammates, coaching & medical staff, you’re all amazing people ad so professional and of course to the fans that showing their unconditional support every week.

“Unfortunately this season was really tough in general and personally too but I tried to give everything I can til the last moment to help the team.

“Thank you CAFC for this year and I wish the club to be back where it deserve to be, at the highest level of football.”
