Middlesbrough plot late move for Spurs full back

Middlesbrough are plotting an ambitious move to sign Tottenham left back Danny Rose before Friday’s 5pm deadline, according to Football Insider.

Rose has fallen out of favour with the Premier League giants and hasn’t been given a squad number for this season.

The £28 million signing of Sergio Reguilon has only placed him further down the pecking order at Spurs, with the Spaniard competing with Ben Davies for a place in Jose Mourinho’s side.

The England international, 30, is reportedly free to find a new club permanently or on loan during the domestic window.

Spurs are open to send the full-back out on loan for the last year of his contract after struggling to secure the £5 million fee they wanted in the international window. He held talks over a move to Italian side Genoa, but the deal collapsed.

Rose has made 214 appearances for the Lilywhites and has scored 10 goals. He has three consecutive loans spells in the Championship between 2009 and 2011, with Watford, Peterborough and Bristol City.

He joined Sunderland on a season-long loan for the 2012-13 season, featuring 29 times and scoring once. He moved clubs for the first time in seven years when he signed a six-month loan with Newcastle United in 2020, playing 13 games for the Magpies.
