Walker-Peters makes Saints switch

Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker-Peters has completed a permanent move to Southampton after having a loan spell at the end of the 2019/20 season.

The 23-year-old – who moves to St Mary’s Stadium the same day as Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg went the opposite direction and signed for Tottenham – has joined the Saints for a reported fee of £1.2 million and has penned a five-year deal.

“The last few months on loan have been great for me and a lot of fun too,” he said.

“The club definitely fits the way I like to play, and I hope that people were able to see that during the last month or so of the season.”

Walker-Peters, who was part of the England side that won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea, came through the ranks at Tottenham, but only managed 24 first team appearances. He managed to grab one goal after scoring in the FA Cup fifth round in a 6-1 win against Rochdale in 2018.

He joined Southampton initially on loan for the end of the season and played 10 matches.
