Norwich Youngster Joins Stevenage

Goalkeeper Billy Johnson has completed a move to Stevenage.

The 20-year-old shot stopper was released from Championship bound Norwich City, having made only two appearances for the Canaries in the EFL trophy.

“It feels great,” Johnson told the club website. “It has been a long time coming but I am glad we could get the deal over the line and I am looking forward to what can come for the future. I can’t wait to get back to it.”

Manager Alex Revell said: “He had a brilliant loan last year at Braintree on loan from Norwich and he has a real presence for such a young man and has real quality with his distribution and shot stopping.

“He is a fantastic character and knows that he has to come in and work at his best every day to keep improving and earn the right to play. He will be someone that I know will relish that challenge.”

Stevenage finished bottom of League Two in the 2019/20 campaign and are set to be relegated to the National League, provided the EFL receives assurance that non-league football’s top tier will go ahead next year.

The club have not confirmed the length of Johnson’s contract.
