Meslier Joins Leeds On A Permanent
Leeds United have signed Lorient goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell with the club this season.
The 20-year-old kept seven clean sheets in 10 appearances for the Championship side as they won the league title.
He was promoted to first-choice keeper after Spaniard Kiko Casilla was given an eight-match ban for racially abusing Charlton Athletic winger Jonathan Leko earlier in the season.
“It’s a dream come true because next season we are in the Premier League,” said Meslier.
“My objective when I arrived was to stay here, Leeds is perfect, the supporters, club and stadium, along with the team is unbelievable, so I always wanted to stay.
“I hope to play a lot next season too, I always train at 100 per cent, I want to start next season and I hope we can play lots of big games here at Elland Road.”
The Frenchman joins the club on a three-year-old and is the first signing since their promotion to the Premier League.
