Harrogate Town to groundshare with Doncaster Rovers

Harrogate Town will start life in the EFL at Doncaster Rovers’ Keepmoat Stadium.

The Sulphurites were promoted to England’s fourth tier for the first time in their 106 year history after they beat Notts County in the playoff final at Wembley last Sunday.

The club are now working on upgrading the CNG Stadium to comply with the EFL regulations. They have begun tearing up their artificial 3G pitch in preparing of a new grass playing field.

Harrogate had already been granted permission by the league to groundshare with the League One side in the event they secured promotion. However, the work on their stadium won’t be finished until October, with the 2020/21 League Two season set to start on September 12th.

“We are now able to confirm an agreement with Doncaster Rovers to use their ground for our EFL home games while our new grass pitch is laid,” the club said in a statement.

“Built in 2006, the Keepmoat Stadium can hold around 15,000 supporters and is located within 50 miles of the CNG Stadium.

“The groundshare will be in place until October 10 when we anticipate our new grass pitch will be ready at the CNG Stadium.”
